About Lithuanian Private Equity and Venture Capital Association

Venture and Private Equity funds invest in both young companies looking to strengthen their position and mature companies looking to give their business a reboot. Investors are giving companies what they would not normally and shortly be able to obtain: not only financing, but also experience, knowledge and contacts. Most of the businesses that are funded are so-called small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). They also hold most of the capital. Funds are only available for distinguished and promising businesses. This does not mean that invested companies need to be the best in their business. It is investors who help them become such a company.

Investment funds are funded by international organizations (EBRD, EIF), financial institutions (pension funds, insurance companies), governmental institutions (INVEGA) and private investors. In addition to long-term returns, these investments have the added benefit of contributing to the development of the local financial market, improving access to capital for SMEs and attracting foreign investment.
